Its so sad, there is so many walking trails threw there, the city advertises the trails, and so many of them are grown in. I live near them, I use to bike and walk them every day. I wouldn't mind helping out and keeping the trails up to date, but its hard all alone. I use to walk them keep them clean, pick up the trash along them mess and so on, but look at these pictures. the covered bridge is knocked down and has been for over 10 years, there is trash all threw there. If the city granted me to help and permission to clean up the trails maybe up date them. I would, but its come to the point you cant do it by hand no more, you need a ATV or truck to make it threw some spots and clean up the trash.
I also think, some trails should be atv and skidoo trails there, as there is groomed trails and trails all over the city, and in the Milbank area, there is no trails to the Bathurst HWY to get to the skidoo/atv trail.
the only thing that is keeping them trails from growing in, is atvs and sleds, trying to get to the Bathurst hwy. to the local trails.
and the only time I see people walk threw there is when its winter. and fall.
trails need a improvement, and people like me in the area of the trails to help keep them clean and safe. there is so much wild life back there that catches the eye. I can tell you where the deer hang out, and walk each year, back and forth, a path of rabbits, and one spot where there is the odd moose the odd time, there is wild birds, coyotes ,bears ect. there is even some really nice apple trees.
I just want to help out, I grew up in the area and I still do, im in my 30's and I love the area. but the way most of the trails are, trees down, trees, couch, stoves, bath tubs, I wont list or mention who has been dumping back there but I do know who it has been. I already took, 2 old lawn tractors off that trail. and several beer bottles and cans.
your welcome,
help me keep the trails clean, and also maybe make a atv trail near or going threw there, it will help, and Im sure the atv club would help out, would never hurt to make and have more trails threw there.
The City has been doing some work on the Millbank trails over the past few year's but its been mostly on the McHardy Road and power plant side of the trails. The improvements include new signs and a new bridge over the ditch on the McHardy Road entrance. My hopes are that they have plans to continue to cleanup and renew the trails. The Route 11 side of the trails could use a lot of work as you mention.
I hope this site helps promote the trails. More use means more people who care about the trails and their upkeep.
